"Don't look back, you're not going that way." Rory Rubin, S.I. Container Builds


Rory is the CEO of S.I. Container Builds are our woman in construction. Her company builds unique homes out of sustainable containers. They are creating small spaces with purchase and assisting the challenges faced in obtainable housing. We had the opportunity to get her perspective on business, inspiration and the construction industry.


What attracted you to your role/position in the construction industry?

I have always had an entrepreneurial spirit. The role as CEO just evolved and it was the right timing in my life. I have several decades of business experience that I can now bring to the table.



What are your goals for the next 24 months?

To build a successful business which includes revenue, client satisfaction and internal staff satisfaction.


What would you say to other women in construction about breaking the glass ceiling?

Stop looking at it as a glass ceiling and keep doing what you do best--you'll get noticed by the right people. Also, surround yourself with other strong woman--support and camaraderie is priceless.


What motivates you to work and play hard in this industry?

Knowing what we do impacts the lives of others and the environment in a positive way--Leaving this as a legacy for my kids.


Do you have a quote, mindful practice or inspiration that guides you forward?

"Don't look back, you're not going that way."


Tell us about one of your wins or victories.

Having a mental health background in my early career has connected us to a building project that will directly impact the mental health positively of other young people. What a fantastic and unique pairing.


How does your company impact others?

We "build for your purpose". We have taken a structure that would not be used otherwise and created places that can support things like, affordable communities, wellness, disaster relief, second incomes and retreat spaces.
