Welcome to another episode of "The Marketplace," where we explore the latest products and solutions shaping the construction industry on Offsite Dirt. Today, we’re thrilled to introduce two special guests, Will Dutcher from Viega and Nick Cameron from Liquitech. These companies are at the forefront of innovative technologies in construction, offering unique solutions to some of the industry's toughest challenges.
Meet Our Guests
Will Dutcher:
Will has been with Viega for over eight years, holding various roles from product engineer to market management, and now leads the industrial technical sales group. His focus is on ensuring that Viega’s products are well-suited for both on-site and off-site applications, working closely with large engineering firms and operating companies.
Nick Cameron:
Nick is a product and manufacturing engineer at Liquitech, where he has been for three years. With a background in mechanical engineering, Nick manages product design and supports the manufacturing team to ensure high-quality production.
The Viega Solution:
Standing Up to Harsh Conditions Viega, a company with a 125-year legacy, is renowned for its press fitting technology. Will explains that Viega’s fittings are designed to withstand the harshest conditions, making them ideal for construction projects where traditional methods may fall short. Viega's press fitting technology involves joining pipes and tubes by deforming the fitting around them using electric or battery-powered tools. This method provides a reliable seal, even in the face of vibration, thermal expansion, or contraction.
"We pride ourselves on rigorous testing," says Will. "Our fittings undergo vibration, tensile, burst pressure, seismic events, and even impulse testing by the Navy to ensure they perform at the highest level."
Liquitech’s Experience with Viega: A Game Changer
Liquitech specializes in water treatment products, particularly those aimed at eliminating Legionella bacteria. Nick shares how Liquitech previously faced issues with solder joints cracking during transport, leading to costly repairs and delays. However, since partnering with Vega, those problems have been resolved.
"As we switched over to Viega, we haven't noticed any of those problems reoccurring," Nick notes. "The joints have been able to tolerate all of the vibration that the road to transit introduces, solving a major headache for us."
The Power of Collaboration
The collaboration between Viega and Liquitech showcases the importance of finding the right partners in the construction industry. Viega’s press fitting technology has allowed Liquitech to bring more work in-house, reducing lead times and costs while improving safety and efficiency.
When asked about the customer experience, Will emphasizes Viega's commitment to providing in-field support, whether on a job site or in a prefab environment. "We ensure our partners have a positive experience with our technology by offering ongoing support, training, and engineering services to optimize installations," he says.
Looking Ahead: Expansion and Innovation
Both Viega and Liquitech are focused on growth and innovation. Viega is expanding its product offerings, particularly in the valve market, to provide comprehensive solutions across various industries. They are also investing heavily in North America, with facilities in Colorado, New Hampshire, Nevada, Kansas, Pennsylvania, and soon, Ohio.
Nick highlights how Viega’s solutions have allowed Liquitech to respond quickly to urgent needs in the medical and long-term care sectors, where clean, safe water is critical. "What used to take six to eight weeks can now be built in a day in our own shop," he says, underscoring the significant impact of this partnership.
Final Thoughts
This conversation with Will and Nick reveals the transformative power of innovative products and strong partnerships in the construction industry. Viega's press fitting technology has not only solved Liquitech’s challenges but has also opened up new possibilities for efficiency, safety, and cost savings in the broader marketplace.
As Viega continues to expand and innovate, and as Liquitech leverages these advancements, the future of construction looks promising. Stay tuned for more insights and updates from industry leaders on "The Marketplace."
