The Passive House principles include:
1. Super Insulated assemblies with continuous insulation, this means the effective value is more than what code calls for and is a High R value and Low U value.
2. Thermal Bridge Free Construction, when possible a thermal break to minimize energy loss and increase efficiency.
3. High Performance windows which in many cases include the Euro style tilt/turn and triple glazing.
4. Air Tight Construction using a variety of products such as Liquid Applied membranes, tape, plywood and specialty sheet goods.
5. Fresh Air Machines with energy/ heat recovery ventilation running continuously.
